Should the “Five Rivers” be banned from politics?

The “Five Rivers” are the National Council for Peace and

Order (NCPO), the National Legislative Assembly (NLA),

The National Reform Council (NRC),the Constitution

Drafting Committee (CDC) and the Cabinet. Their aim is

to realizing true democracy to Thai society lead by

General Prayut Chan-o-cha. Five Rivers are composed of

people from many sections such as professional,politicians,

military,court judge and old government officer including

ex-senetors.

 

CDC member,Mr Jade Donavanik suggested the idea of

banning the Five Rivers from politics for two year at

the meeting of the Constitution Drafting Committee

(CDC) on Wednesday.

There are some arguments from members of NLA and CDC.

Mr Peerasak Porjit ,NLA vice president and a former elected

Uttaradit senator disagreed with this because NLA members

have nothing to do with setting the charter rules.

Mr Paiboon Nitatawan ,an NRC member disagreed with this

idea too because he think that it is not fair and the other reason

is the same as Mr.Peerasak.

 

But on this day(Thursday )Prime Minister Prayut said that it

should be banned only the members of CDC because

 CDC members directly involved in the process.

 

In my viewpoint I agree with the prime minister idea,

My reasons are :

First, members from NRC,NLA,NCPO and Cabinet are

composed of smart people from variety of careers,

these people can perform good ideas and activities to

Thai society if we ban them we will lose opportunity

of developing our country to full potential and to the

right direction.

 

Second, It is not fair for these Four Rivers to be banned.

If the ban is ruling it should be banned all former MPs

and ex- minister also.And if these happen who will

work for our country.

 

Third,The Four Rivers are not directly setting the rules

of the new charter so they are not have conflict of

interest with it.

 

At last I hope the new charter is fair enough for

all parties to accept it and the new election can be

available at the right time.

 

 

“Misery index” ranks Thailand the least –miserable country

From the 15 Happiest Economics in the world, Thailand

is the first countries with the best projected ranking in

the misery index of 2015 base on Bloomberg calculations.

“Misery index” which compose of two factors,inflation

and unemployment that make consumers unhappy,are

remarkably lowest in Thailand (the lowest is the best)

according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg New.

 

Thailand misery score is the lowest at 1.6,second is

Switzerland at 2.4,Japan is the third at 4.5 while the

United States ranks eighth at score 5.85.

However by Per Capita GDP Rank,Thailand is at score

44th,Switzerland the forth,Japan the 19 ^th while U.S.

 is at the third and Norway get the first rank.

 

Least inflation and unemployment lead Thailand to be

happy that  make sense but with Per Capita GDP rank

44 th of total 51 rank why we still happy.

The reasons are because :

1.The good relationship in Thai family and society.

We always support each other as much as we can.

We always take care,share happiness and suffering.

As the words say: when we share happiness,happiness

increase and when we share sufferring ,sufferring decrease.

2.We are Buddist,this religion teach us to be a good person,

love ourself and each other because everyone is human

 If we are suffering from something or someone,

we are taught to look at the bright side of things and

this can make us find good thing in bad thing so we can

still happy although we are in sufferring situation.

3.We love peace and live simple life,we satisfied which

what we have, these are the basics of life.

With all the above reasons including with we can easily

smile with our signature as “Thailand land of smile”,

humour sense accompamy with many natural resources

and beautiful nature,we always the most luckiest and

happiest people in the world.

 

 

National Legislative Assembly (NLA) face ethical morality

I was surprised when I heard that at least 70 NLA member

had appointed their relatives including wife and children

as personal specialists to support their work with monthly

salaries of 15,000-24,000 baht.

And was surprised more to hear that Prime Minister

Prayut Chan-o-cha say they weren’ wrong.

It is big issue this week it created to much public criticism.

However Mr.Surachai Liengboonlerschai ,NLA deputy  president

call on members who have appointed relative as aides to

retroactively end their employment effective from March1

in order to set a standard for future politicians.

 

Mr.Srisuwan Junya ,a social activist of Thai Constitution

Protection ask The National Anti-Corruption Commission

(NACC) to investigate this problem and I will wait to see

how the NACC react to this case.

 

The actions of NLA members has created the possibility

for conflict of interest although employing relative

does not breach any rule or requlations,the question is it

right to do that if we want to reform our ethics,morality

and good governance.

Thai society also has the problem with this case in former

government  too.

 

In order to solve this problem in the future,The National

Ethics Assembly which approved in principal by The

National Reform Committee (NRC) on Monday to

scrutinize the moral standards and behavior of

politicians  should be address the problem involving the

employment of politicians’family members with their

salaries drawn from public fund to the bill to set a

 standard  for future good politicians.

 

 

Sustainable Development will survive critical in Thailand!

The evil cycle in Thaialnd :

1.Coup

2.Tear down constitution

3.New constitution

4.Election

 

Why coup?

Critical in politics and social according to the fact that

Thai politicians do for their own benefit more than for

country benefit and corruption till our country face ruin,

then no choice,these lead to coup to get exit of the

critical situations.

 

Can new constitution solve the problem?

If the new constitution is fair enough for overall benefit of

our country it may solve the problems.

Profound and credible constitution does not depend on

forms and innovation to draft it,what make it good and

successful is substance of it.

 

Sustainable Development is base on Triple Lines

1.Economics

2.Social

3.Environment

Economic growth must accompany with good social.

We can not have a stable economic if our social still

in crutial time.And stability in economic accompany

 with good social will lead us to good and better

environment.

To make it all balance we must accept our duty to

sacrifice for public good,reform ourself and provide

continuous harmonious process.

Mob in Thailand,the change agent who will never die.

Huge conflicting force have been at work in Thai politics

in recent decades,particulary since a constitution draft in

 1997 although that constitution modified in 2007,

Unprecedented pressure is being brought because of

hugh amount of corruption and malfeasance of holder

of political position by prime minister.

 

Thai mobs played their roll againt these,they are basically

referring to a large crown of people with a non-violence

agenda meanwhile they sometimes produced some

violence.

 

Three major mobs since 2005 are

1.People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) or The Yellow

Shirts.

2.United Front of  Democracy Againt Dictotorship (UDD)

or Red Shirts.

3.People’s Demonocratic Reform Committee (PDRC).

 

The Yellow Shirts was originally a coalition of protester againt

Thaksin Shinnawatra the former prime minister of Thaialnd.

Its leaders include Sondhi Limthongkul and Major General

Chamlong Srimuang.Their roll were in the Thai political crisis

 of  2005-2009 .Yellow Shirts announced to stop their roll in 2013.

 

Red Shirts is a politicial pressure group apposed to Yellow Shirts

and support  Thaksin Shinnawatra.Red Shirts leader include

Jatuporn Prompan,Nattawut Saikua,Veera Musikapong and

Weng Tojirakarn.

Red Shirts are composed mostly of rural masses from Northern

And North Thailand,of urban lower classes from Bangkok

and some intellectuals.

In April –May 2010 protests by Red Shirts turn violence,

There are many bombs and fired,protestors and government

officer were injured and died.Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva prime

minister at that time crackdown Red Shirts mob.But till

now under martial rule Red Shirts still quietly play

their roll in Thai politics.

 

PDRC is a political pressure proup set by former Democrat Party

MP Suthep Thaugsuban aimed at removing the influence of

former prime minister Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra

from Thai politics.

The movement was supported by various orginazation including

 the Democrat Party,student activist group,state worker’s union

and pro-military group.Whistle –blowing was the central

symbol of the protest.It formed on November 2013 and paused

their roll when the coup seize the power.

Like Red Shirts ,PDRC is quietly play their roll under martial rule.

 

The coup with martial rule try to seize the roll of Red Shirts

and PDRC but  this is not the way to solve controversies in

Thai society.It only stop for a while and if the coup is sticky

control there will be resistance till it expose again.

The controversies in Thai social is deep root,Thai people were

classified by politicial view into Red Shirts and PDRC clearly.

If we want to reconcile discrimination between Thai people,

The new constitution must be fair enough for the two parties.

The continuous harmonious process is mostly need.

If Thai people can find accommodation among themselves

and we have a profound and creditable democracy this will

 lead us to live together in peace again otherwise the controversies

 and argument or fighting between two parties will happen again

as I will say “Mob in Thailand ,the change agent will never die”.

Truth of Democracy in Thailand

83 years of democracy since 1932,Thailand still under

struggle base on the fact that there are 13 coups which

average happened every six years (the shortest period is

in one yaer and the longest period is 11 years of the

elected government)

 

Major  reasons of the coup are the large amount of

corruption in big projects,bureaucracy and agricultural

subsidy programme which lead to economic and politicial

instability in Thailand.All coup happened peacefully,

Thai people accepted it because there are no other better

way to solve the problem according to the fact that Thai

governments never resign although citizens found that

there were corruption by the government.

Corruption and coup cause struggle in democracy

in Thailand.

 

Power  tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts

- Lord Baron Acton

This sentence is always true. To solve and prevent corruption

by government ,Thai people must elect good representive

so that they will do for the country benefit not corrupt for

their own benefit.

 

Why the election in Thailand still have bad quality of

politicians?

Facts about behavior of Thai people that lead to many

problems including the election are :

1.Thai people have humility and they classify class in

society  and promote the ruling classes.

2.Thai people pesist in patronizing and believe in leader.

3.They rely on other,lack of confidence in themselves so

they do not have creativity and less argument.

4.They like to work as one man show lead to no group,

no development.

5.They do not like change,they insit in their way

so that they resist new technology,new idea.

6.Their values are object,rather than the mind,

Popular Thai society praised the people who have

money,have the power over someone who is very

popular.

7.They are unconscionable and do not have ideology

to improve Thai society.

 

Thai social must reform these bad attitude so that there

will have improvement in our society.

To reform our social we must accept that some area must

affect with bad and good outcome,but if the overall

outcome are best for our country we should accept it.

 

We must sacrifice our own benefit and do more for our

country.

If we can reform ourself and change our attitude,these

will lead us through better perspective.We can elect

more good politicians into the parliament .

I believe that which more good politicians there will be less

corruption and they will do more for our country benefit.

This will lead to stability of government, there are no need

for coup and will lead to true and stability of democracy

in Thailand.

Is the draft charter fit for democracy and the next election in Thailand?

According to the draft charter,The Constitution Drafting

 Committee (CDC) wants half of new 200 seat senator to

 consist of :

1.Former high-level minister,President of the Nation Assembly,

President of Court judge 10 persons.

2.Civil service, Commander in Chief,Controller of the army,

Bureaucrats 10 persons.

3.Former  head of  Professional Organization 10 persons.

4.Self-select from Agricultural sector, Labour,Professional,

Community 50 persons.

The other half would be nominated by a screening committee

and chosen by “People Assembly” in every important fields

100 persons.

The senators will be in the position for six years and can not

be in continuous position.

 

Compare with last senators elections which happened on

 March 30,2014,it based on charter 2007,senstors composed of

 150 members.  77 Senators are directly elected from 77 provinces

of Thailand including Bangkok,while the other 73 are appointed

from various sectors by The Senate Selection Committee.

The senate is a non-partisan legislative chamber operates under

fixed terms of six years and can not be in continuous position.

 

The difference point between senate election base on charter

2007 and the new draft charter is, base on chareter 2007

senators come from election and appointment but the new draft

charter all senators come from appointment and this is the same

as charter 1997.

What to be think?

1.Will the new draft charter lead us to move to right direction

of democracy?

2.Can the new draft charter solves the controversies about

Politics in Thailand?

 

In my viewpoint, first, charter 2007 was raised up to solve

The problem of charter 1997 that appointment of senators

is not the right way to democracy but base on the new draft

charter, all of 200 senators will be appointed again.

It does not make-sense to solve the problem by moving

backward. I think if we are not in the proper situation of

election all the senators. The combination of election

and appointment are appropriate and if we want 200

senators we can allocate the proportion between

election and appointment.

 

Second, the new draft charter can not solve the controversies

about Politics in Thailand because senators appointment

will lead us to Bureacracy again.I think all Thai citizens want

democracy and we should find the way to reach that point.

If you think Thai people are not smart enough for democracy.

We can solve this problem by solving our education problem,

give them a sound education so that they can analize information

and make the right decision for the election.
