New deputy police : Chakthip Chaijinda!!

On Friday morning, the Board of Royal Thai Police selected

deputy police chief Chakthip Chaijinda to succeed Pol Gen

Somyot Pumpunmuang, who retires on September 30.

The board met at an army club in the compound of the 1 st

Infantry Regiment on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in Bangkok.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit

Wongsuwon chaired the meeting. He is the vice-chairman

of the police board while Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha,

who was absent on Friday,is the chairman.

Pol Gen Chakthip is the least senior among the five deputy

police chiefs.

Earlier,Pol Gen Aek Angsananont, the most senior of all

the deputies, was also tipped as the older candidate.

Pol Gen Aek is well respected for his interrogation skills

and his most recent achievement is cracking the Rohingya

case this year.

Pol Gen Aek also attened the same school as Prime Minister

Prayut Chan-o-cha and is a classmate of the premier’s brother

Gen Preecha Chan-o-cha,an army chief candidate. He graduated

from Ramkhamhaeng University’s Law Faculty.

After he received the bar,he completed a law master’s degree

at Chulalongkorn University.

Pol Gen Chakthip, who retires in 2020,reportedly has an

edge because of his reputation as a top detective. He has

experience handling protest mobs and good relations with

various circles.

The new police chief was in Class 20 of the Armed Forces

Academics Preparation School, the training ground for

both policemen and soldiers,so he has close connections

with key military officers. He complete a master’s degree

from Kentucky State University in the US.

Besides.Pol Gen Chakthip supervised security affairs in

relation to political demonatrations and violence in

southern border provinces, and worked closely with Gen

Prawit and key military figures who supported his promotion,

said the source.

Thai Rath Online also reported Pol Gen Aek had already been

contracted to become permanent secretary of the Social

Department and Human Security Ministry.

Nerws,General,Bangkok post,14 August 2015.

In my viewpoint,Thai police has bad image, whoever

become the chief face the duty to solve this image.

Problem of Thai police :

1.The process of investigation that still has ill treatment

to the accused.

2.The injustice with the appointment process of police.

3.For some place there is still no safety because of the criminal.

4.There are still many illegal casinos all over Bangkok wait

to open if the military government step down from the power.

5.Wage and welfare for the polices should adjust to the rate

that they can survive so that there will lead to least corruption

process.

Sincerely Yours.
