Will the new draft charter lead to the new election on July 2017.

 

 

 

The CDC on Jan finalized the draft charter with 15 chapters

and 270 sections in total. The 15 chapters cover general

provisions; the monarchy; rights and liberties; duties of the

people; duties of the state; state policies; parliament; cabinet;

conflicts of interests; courts; constitutional organs or

independent organisations; public prosecutor organisation,
 
local government; and amendments and provisional clauses.

 

The final draft of the new charter will present by early April.

After that the new referendum will get underway on July.

The draft charter if passed the referendum is expected to

receive endorsement in the following month.

The CDC will spend eight months drawing up the charter’s

10 draft organic laws.The National Legislative Assembly (NLA)

will spend two months deliberating the draft laws. Election

 of MPs and senators will be held within 150 days of the

 enforcement of the 10 organic laws.

 

However,if the CDC fails to complete the 10 organic laws

in eight months,the CDC will dissolved and the NCPO will

set uo a new CDC to continue drafting the 10 organic laws.

 

This likely on the provision roapmap og 6-4-8-2-5 months-

six months for drafting the charter,four for preparing for a

referendum,eight for drafting organic laws,two for the

 NLA to pass the charter and five to prepare the election.

So if all can follow the roadmap,the new election will be

held on July 2017.

 

In my viewpoint,the charter will pass the referendum or

not depend on how the CDC and the government make

people to understand “the core” of the charter which

intend to prevent the corrupt politicians from playing

in political field and election again.

Hope all can be done follow the roadmap through

the new election and the country get good politicians

into the parliament so that it is the beginning of the true

and sustainable democracy we wait for.
