Old structure of Thai economy compose of industrial
sector,
agricultural sector,financial sector ,commercial
and service sector.Nowadays another sector that is
important to Thai economy is digital economy.It is
important by the growth rate in the sector itselt and
it provide growth
rate to other sectors of economy.
Update estimated market value of digital economy by
The Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade
of Thailand only found as of 2013.
Total market is about 1.2 trillion baht which equal 10
per cent
of GDP (this amount is excluding electronic market value
of
1.5 trillion baht)
The estimated market value of ICT market total amount
of 1.2 trillion baht are composed of
1.Telecommucation market 500 billion baht
2.E-Commerce market 400
billion baht
3.Broadcasting market 100 billion baht
4.Information Technology market 100
billion baht
5.Digital Contents market 50 billion baht
6.Digital Marketing market 10 billion baht
New digital economy today is different from old digital
economy which initially come about two decades ago.
While the old one was based on the use of personal
computer connected to the internet,the new one is in
form of the use of “smart devices” such as smartphone
and tablets which are connected via wireless broadband
and 3G services.
To handle digital economy affairs,The Ministry of
Information and Communication
Technology will
transfer to Ministry of Digital Economy.
The challenge task of Ministry of Digital Economy are to
:
1.Improve old digital network to National broadband and
Digital gateway.
2.Form Data Center
3.Improve investment overlap between government sector
and private sector to be efficiency.
4.Promote investment of private sector to be ready for
competitiveness in AEC.
To reach our goal in digital economy every sectors must
integrate their effort to propel the effectiveness :
Government sectors :
As Ministry of Information and Communication Technology
will transfer to
Ministry of Digital Economy,how to operate
with efficient is the point.
1.Clear vision,goal,plan,strategy,direction and work
to do
in short run and long run term for the civil servants
are
necessary.
2.The ambiguity in every auctions must be clear and fair
enough for every parties.
3.Corruption in every process must be eliminate and
transparent process
is essential to make everyone satisfy.
4.Play role of the National Broading and
Telecommunications
Commission (NBCT) must be clear.And I think the NBTC
should be independent entity that can be investigate the
error
in new digital economy and counterbalance with the
Ministry
of Digital Economy.
Private Sectors :
Private sectors usually prepare themselves well for new
opportunity in the business but must not look down the
competitor. Source of fund ,new technology and skill
work force must prepare to be competitive in the
business.
Thai Citizens :
As I know ,we worry that the cyber security bill will
open the door to abuse of power by the government
because section 35 would allow the national cyber
security committee,established under the bill,to gain
access to people’s personal information through
email,telegraph,fax and electronic devices in the name
of national security.
To protect our rights we must keep an eye on this bill,
participate ,discuss when we have opportunity to make
sure that the bill will not gain over our right.
Currently the bill concern are being scrutinized by the
Council of State before sent back to the cabinet again.
Tomorrow there will be a meeting of temporary committee
on digital economy with Prime Minister Prayuth.
And I hope that there will be a best solution for our
new
Digital Economy.
