I was surprised when I heard that at least 70 NLA member
had appointed their relatives including wife and
children
as personal specialists to support their work with
monthly
salaries of 15,000-24,000 baht.
And was surprised more to hear that Prime Minister
Prayut Chan-o-cha say they weren’ wrong.
It is big issue this week it created to much public
criticism.
However Mr.Surachai Liengboonlerschai ,NLA deputy president
call on members who have appointed relative as aides to
retroactively end their employment effective from March1
in order to set a standard for future politicians.
Mr.Srisuwan Junya ,a social activist of Thai
Constitution
Protection ask The National Anti-Corruption Commission
(NACC) to investigate this problem and I will wait to
see
how the NACC react to this case.
The actions of NLA members has created the possibility
for conflict of interest although employing relative
does not breach any rule or requlations, the question is
it
right to do that if we want to reform our
ethics,morality
and good governance.
Thai society also has the problem with this case in
former
government too.
In order to solve this problem in the future,The
National
Ethics Assembly which approved in principal by The
National Reform Committee (NRC) on Monday to
scrutinize the moral standards and behavior of
politicians
should be address the problem involving the
employment of politicians’family members with their
salaries drawn from public fund to the bill to set a
standard for future good politicians.
